I am that guy with the funny name. In my first life I was a professional photographer. In my second life I started a multimedia studio. That studio began life by producing Flash Games and turned into Software company over the years.
My drive to make art continues with focus of producing my own tools with code. Along the journey others have jumped on to use these tools also. Where will this journey take us, no one knows. I do at least intend to enjoy the ride of finding out.
This is the best independent developer made game I've ever seen or played.
Machinarium is a puzzle / adventure game. The puzzles are a real challenge. The overall feel of the whole game is the same feeling I had when Myst was first released back in the early 1990's. I personally put this in the top 10 games ever played, It worth getting and playing. This game is can't miss for anyone that every enjoyed a great puzzle game.
This has to be the best thing I seen for a while. On the Developers site it says and I quote. "Buy it! It Cost Whatever You Want(ish)!"
With a field to add the amount you wish to pay and a button to buy it (note A minimum of $1 is the least amount accepted.) How can anyone really pass that up???
It a fun game shooter game for mac or windows. But the pure willingness to offer it for whatever you want(ish) . surprised me enough to write about it.
This is a iPhone game, but the developers released a mac version, only available @ apple downloads for what ever reason. It kind of funny because the mac desktop version is the same window size as the iPhone.
It's free and a quick released of boredom for a few minutes kind of game.
A very interesting strategy game. Creeper world does not jazz you up with a tons of eye candy. But it does bring a very challenging and fun strategy game play.
After a month of seeing hundreds more of those boring Hidden Objects and match 3 games (which if you played one, you played enough, there all the same cookie cutter type games)
Creeper World hits the OSX platform almost under the radar. This truly is one not to miss. It's a fun unique challenge worth the time.
Commodore 64 is back on the iPhone? Why? I had a C64 when I was young and I loved it. That was so long ago. Are there really that many people out there looking to use this fossil technology these days? Considering the awesome stuff that has since replaced it.
Do not understand programing? Do not worry. GameSalad is an Automator type creation tool for games and animation. Interesting concept, and it works. It can be used by traditional programers as a truly rapid prototyping tool. Or by anyone as designed. A simple to use, game creation tool. Web base games need a plug in.
iPhone publishing is just around the corner. (Here the first live iPhone game made with GameSalad, below)
What ever the needs you have, This tool could become very useful. Playing around and testing this product, was and has been truly amazing and fun. Start with a template and play around just as if you where using Automator and make something. One click publishing. with embed tags to put anywhere.
(Below are a few more, screens of the gameSalad interface)
Here is a video I found on youTube that speaks for it self.
If you are a programer looking for prototying. A gamer looking to make your own game, or just curious. I recomend checking out GameSalad. It is a great tool for any need. It is also fun toying around with. Check it out. It currently only works on OS X 10.5 or later with an Intel Processor.
Bit pricey to say the least, consider unity 3D only $199 for there iPhone indy version (and also supports the web, Mac & windows DT). more info @ http://gamesalad.com/products/iphone
