iSimulate

iSimulate is an application/library pair designed to solve the issue of not being able to use multi-touch and the accelerometer in the iPhone Simulator. iSimulate wirelessly sends multi-touch events, the accelerometer data, and the GPS location to the iPhone Simulator.

This is ratter useful for recording video trailers of iPhone Apps using video screen capture.

We got this, really for doing video trailers. I had only used still screens before and wanted to move over to more of a video preview. That actually recorded the events of the device, with a clean view for the record.

Another developer suggested taking a look at this. All I can say it well worth a spot in my tool box. Check it out for your self maybe you find it useful also.

It really a pretty smart and useful tool, for any iPhone app developer. It is much better than just using it for the application of taking video trailers. If you very used the iPhone Simulator, you would understand, just by watching the above video.

Go check it out. Worth the time, and price.

GameSalad, Simple game creation for iPhone and Web

Do not understand programing? Do not worry. GameSalad is an Automator type creation tool for games and animation. Interesting concept, and it works. It can be used by traditional programers as a truly rapid prototyping tool. Or by anyone as designed. A simple to use, game creation tool. Web base games need a plug in.

iPhone publishing is just around the corner. (Here the first live iPhone game made with GameSalad, below)

What ever the needs you have, This tool could become very useful.  Playing around and testing this product, was and has been truly amazing and fun. Start with a template and play around just as if you where using Automator and make something. One click publishing. with embed tags to put anywhere.

(Below are a few more, screens of the gameSalad interface)

Here is a video I found on youTube that speaks for it self.

If you are a programer looking for prototying. A gamer looking to make your own game, or just curious. I recomend checking out GameSalad. It is a great tool for any need. It is also fun toying around with. Check it out. It currently only works on OS X 10.5 or later with an Intel Processor.

Hex Color Picker

If you are ever need to know what the hex code to a color is, using the built in OS X color picker. This neat little plug-in is your answer. It better than a 3rd party tool because it built in to the main color control system (which is often automatically opened when clicking on a color). Great handy tool.

OpenMeta; open source document metadata for OS X

Ironic Software has released OpenMeta, a new open sourced standard for metadata on OS X. OpenMeta, working with established OS X technologies, ushers in a new wave of standards based document management solutions. These solutions can scale from single laptops through to large organizations. Ironic is also releasing free tools to work with the OpenMeta standard. 'Tagger' is an application that allows tagging and rating any document, while omtool is a command line utility.

How it works:
Ironic Software has developed a system that is extensible, open sourced, and based on the OS X file system. Documents are not 'stored' in any special database, instead they are simply put where ever they make sense. A document management system must both store documents (which OpenMeta leaves up to the file system), and metadata about the files - meta data being tags, dates, ratings, people, etc associated with the document.

OpenMeta uses unix 'extended attributes' to store this metadata. By storing both the files and the metadata on the file system, backing up and restoring a document management system can be done with (almost) any normal backup system. For some offices, Time Machine will do more than an adequate job. Storing metadata and files using no special formats or databases allows for very robust future proof behavior. OpenMeta has been designed to last as long as OS X will last.
