I am that guy with the funny name. In my first life I was a professional photographer. In my second life I started a multimedia studio. That studio began life by producing Flash Games and turned into Software company over the years.
My drive to make art continues with focus of producing my own tools with code. Along the journey others have jumped on to use these tools also. Where will this journey take us, no one knows. I do at least intend to enjoy the ride of finding out.
Cost efficient -All in one Touch app screen capture (both video and stills) SimCap worth a look for promo iPhone screens. The video allows to track multi-Touches with circles in the capture. It pretty cheap @ $15 to help spice up your promo screens on your website.
My favorite image editing tool just got upgraded today. What is new: First off this supports 10.6 snow leopard. (That makes only one more app I own that yet does not function with 10.6)
They also added:
• Save for web. (Finally! Been waiting for this for a while.)
• Info Labels
• send to mail
• web colors plug-in
• Trim
and a few bug fixes and improvements.
Do not understand programing? Do not worry. GameSalad is an Automator type creation tool for games and animation. Interesting concept, and it works. It can be used by traditional programers as a truly rapid prototyping tool. Or by anyone as designed. A simple to use, game creation tool. Web base games need a plug in.
iPhone publishing is just around the corner. (Here the first live iPhone game made with GameSalad, below)
What ever the needs you have, This tool could become very useful. Playing around and testing this product, was and has been truly amazing and fun. Start with a template and play around just as if you where using Automator and make something. One click publishing. with embed tags to put anywhere.
(Below are a few more, screens of the gameSalad interface)
Here is a video I found on youTube that speaks for it self.
If you are a programer looking for prototying. A gamer looking to make your own game, or just curious. I recomend checking out GameSalad. It is a great tool for any need. It is also fun toying around with. Check it out. It currently only works on OS X 10.5 or later with an Intel Processor.
Bit pricey to say the least, consider unity 3D only $199 for there iPhone indy version (and also supports the web, Mac & windows DT). more info @ http://gamesalad.com/products/iphone
Decompose Is a little image utility for masking images. It does a better and faster job than, photoshop, pixelmator, gimp, and even better than mask-pro. It still takes some time to lay down the 3 layer mask. But the final output is the cleanest mask image I've ever seen with the less amount of work by the user.
If your doing a ton of masking and want a tool that will work without the headaches in time it takes other tools to give a quality final masked image. I would suggest trying Decompose out. I was pretty amazed by what it did in less than an hour with 6 images.
This is a quality imaging tool that worth test driving. Great job metakine
woooh hooo! I been waiting for an update to one of the most used tools on my machine. Many new plug-ins to go around and making editing sound even sweeter than before. Logic studio already was one awesome tool, it get a little bit better with this new release.
This might be one of the best screen capture apps yet. I still love using yellow mugs SnapNDrag freeware one, And Screen Steps for easy to build manuals. But Layers uses a complete different approach. You can capture anything and everything and it is a full psd layered image to edit in any image editor (like pixelmator and gimp) that supports layers. You can also drop out backgrounds etc. It really worth downloading the demo and playing around with to see what this bad boy can do. As it does many things other screen capture apps do not.
It's like someone really thought this one out. and I like it.
Unity3D game development tool (the best in my book over anything else) is shipping version 2.5 The biggest new feature is now it works from windows as well. So that will add a whole lot more developers who did not buy a mac just to use unity. (and there are many that did, so you can see how good it most be , if people switch to a mac just to use unity) The 2.5 also has an all new interface to help make it even easier than before. It was already so easy to use. 3ds max importing is now supported. no more converting first.
They added a license change This is a big one. The indy licensing can now deploy to all platforms (aka windows, which before was a pro only feature) There a long list of improvements, and bug fixes.
This is hands down the best game tool on the market. I've tried all the others in the under $3000.00 licensing fee and Torque, blitz, C4 even the free open source jobbers come no where near the quality as this one does. It got a prefect workflow, and with the iPhone plug in (torque iPhone plug-in is a rip off), there really no other tool that come close in this price range, In over all quality of what can be done, and how simple it is to code a game. It is worth buying into if you make money building games.
Simple Drawing App. I test driven this tool for the last 6 months. I got to say I finally found an affordable solution for doing any vector or bitmap Illustrations, specially scaleable icon art.
It tock a while to get use to the palettes on either side of the window. Which at first seemed like there was more space for tools than space to draw. The product is updated often and well supported. Great tool that does just about anything for custom UI design I need. Worth checking out.
If your interested in a subdivision modeling but never had the cash to throw down for Modo or Z-Brush. Silo is up your alley. Starting at $99 you can make models so easy and fast with this tool. (crossplatform)
Big news from Unity 3D. Unity's game development tool is going from a mac only IDE, to cross platform. The next version release will include a windows build of the IDE. Unity 3D by far is the best 3D game development tool I have ever used. I am happy to see more developers soon will have a chance to use this great tool.
